Where Is God

Back in my teenage years, shortly before my confirmation, I asked the pastor of that church: Where is God? His answer never made sense to me and I still shake my head about it. He said: God is not in the world, God is the world. 🙄

God Is In the World, But the World Is Not God!

True, nature is God’s work but that doesn’t mean that nature is God. Don’t look to the stars for answers: look to the One who created the stars!

The Bible clearly warns us not to worship the creature but to worship the Creator of it all. Some will make people like movie stars, pop stars and sports stars into idols. Animals like race horses, or cats and dogs of a certain kind of breed, or any other type of animal can easily become our top priorities, too. Remember that God is the One who made human beings and animals, so why would you look to them for answers if you can go to the very One who made them all?

Then there are things like fancy houses and cars, classy boats, manicured gardens, holiday homes in great locations, jewels, all sorts of objects of virtu, etc. that take away big parts of our hearts, souls, strength and minds. What about music? How many times do we seek our own pleasure instead of praising the LORD and singing hymns unto Him?

Behold Your God!

God made the world and everything in it; that includes us. The Bible says:

Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. (Psalm 100:3 -— emphasis mine)

I love the KJV that also says:

Know ye that the LORD he is God: It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. (emphasis mine)

God not only made us but also everything else. He gives us many things — they are gifts from Him to us. We are not to worship what God is giving to us, nor should we worship the people He uses to send us His gifts.

Psalm 127 says that unless the LORD builds the house, they that build it labor in vain. It also says that unless the LORD keeps the city, the watchman wakes in vain.

(Read: Isaiah 40 — It will give you a glimpse of God’s majesty and power!)

Where Is God?

Everywhere eternally: You look around, He is there. You look up to the heavens, He is there. You see the sun rise and you see it set, He is there. You witness the birth of a child, He is there. You attend a funeral and He is there, too.

If you know where God is, make it a priority today to meet with Him.

If you don’t know where God is, seek Him with all your heart and He will be found!
